Masters Courses

Master of Publishing students must complete 47 credits. The curriculum comprises four core courses (16 credits), five electives  (20 credits), and one capstone project (6 credits). Students may choose to specialize in one of three streams: trade publishing, scholarly communication, and innovation and entrepreneurship.

Our faculty work closely with the publishing industry in researching business dynamics, Internet technologies, emergent media forms, cutting-edge design, elegant editorial insight, understanding of industry dynamics, appreciation of the historical record, and a wide range of theoretical perspectives. All coursework is rooted in up-to-date industry practice and research

Students may choose full-time or part-time completion options. Learn more about streams and completion scenarios here

Courses are offered online or in person at SFU Harbour Centre in downtown Vancouver.

Capstone projects (including professional placements) may be completed either in Vancouver or elsewhere. Residency in the Vancouver area is not a requirement after coursework is completed.
