Course Details:

HSCI 424 D100 (BBY) – Strategic Applications of GIS in Health  

Instructor: Dr. Ryan Allen

Lecture: Tu 12:30 PM-2:20 PM and Th 12:30 PM-2:20 PM

Course Specific Information:

TA will be responsible for providing feedback on weekly exercises. TA should have a background in geography, cartography, or a related discipline. Experience with ArcGIS Pro is expected and experience with ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps is strongly preferred.

TA is expected to assist during all student exercise sessions in computer lab and provide support via SFU Canvas.

The number of Base Units: 4.17.

Salary and conditions are determined by the

First day of classes is September 3, 2025, and last day of exams is December 16, 2025.

Many departments include a wide range of specializations and, in order to be appointed, a person must have sufficient knowledge of the course to interpret the course material. Qualifications for the TA/TM positions in HSCI courses include experience with course subject matter obtained either via successful coursework completed in the area or direct practical experience. Course subject matter can be found described in the SFU calendar: /students/calendar/2025/fall.html

Qualified TAs/TMs will also have demonstrated proficiency in English communication skills, both oral and written.

Applicants will not be considered for a position in a course in which they are currently enrolled.
