Payment methods
Ensure your payment is received by the deadline to avoid cancellation of your room assignment and contract. Pay your SFU Residence and Housing fees directly to your Residence and Housing account (unless your housing fees are showing on your GOSFU account - i.e. deferred housing fees)
NOTE: For Room and Meal Plan fees, payment with Credit or debit cards will have an added convenience fee ( 2.5 % for credit and 1.5% for debit cards) . Please read each payment method option below carefully and choose the best option for you.
Payment Methods
Find your account balance through MyPlace@SFU
- Log into housing portal and choose Your Account from the top bar.
- View your Account Balance showing any outstanding Residence and Housing fees (includes required meal plan fees).
Charges will show here as soon as they are posted to your account.
Step 1: Set up your internet banking with one of the following banks or credit unions, and add a new bill payee on your account.
Add a new bill payee (if not already set up) of SFU-Residence or SFU-Residence and Meal Plan
- DO NOT select 91ܽ for your residence and meal plan fee payment as this payment will only be applied to your tuition
- DO NOT pay your tuition fees through SFU-Residence or SFU-Residence and Meal Plan. This payment will be returned to your method of payment. If you wish to make a payment for your tuition or other non-residence fees, please visit here.
Use your SFU or FIC student ID number as the account / invoice / billing number. (Note: some banking institutions look for a 10 digit number for the student/billing number. SFU students can add a zero to the beginning of your student number.)
Search for the following payee name depending on your bank institution. You must have a valid SFU/FIC ID in order for your payment to go to your housing account using the Bill Payment option. The account number is your SFU ID (9 numeric) or FIC ID (8 to 10 alphanumeric).

You can pay online using your debit card through your My Account on the Housing Portal:
- A non-refundable 2.5% convenience fee will be applied to online credit card payments.
- This fee is charged by the payment processor (not SFU) for processing the transaction.
- Your account statement and Housing Portal will only reflect the payment amount received by SFU Residence and Housing (the convenience fee will not be displayed).
- A confirmation email will be sent by the payment processor to the email address provided during payment.
