International Day of Persons with Disabilities with SFU Faculty of Education
This year, the focuses on collective action to support the achivement of (SDGs) targets by 2030 for, with, and by persons with disabilities.
Dr. Inna Stepaniuk contributes to this commitment by sharing her advocacy and experiences, exploring avenues for advancing equity and inclusiveness for individuals with disabilities through implementing fairer policies. Dr. Elina Birmingham adds to this commitment through a tailored peer mentorship program, exemplified by the Autism Mentorship Initiative (AMI). Lastly, our faculty members conduct research and teach various programs and courses aimed at empowering students, such as Micaela Pirritano, to become disability advocates and make an impact in their classrooms and communities.
