An extended minor consists of the lower division major requirements and the upper division minor requirements in a subject area as follows.
Program Requirements
Lower Division Requirements
Students complete 12 units, including both of
- WS 101-3 Introduction to Women’s Issues in Canada
- WS 102-3 Western and Global Feminismss
and one of
- WS 207-3 Introduction to Feminist Theory
- WS 208-3 Researching Women’s Issues: How Do We Do What We Do?
and three more lower division WS units
Upper Division Requirements
Students complete 16 upper division units in women’s studies courses. Those pursuing a minor normally fulfil lower division requirements before enrolling in 400 division courses, except with permission of the department.
Additional courses in various departments are designated for inclusion in the minor. Other courses which may have high women’s studies content will be considered for credit toward the minor upon application. Only five units of designated courses will count toward the minor. Candidates for a history honours or major may count either or both of WS 201 and 202 toward the required 18 lower division history units.
