Mieke Boecker
MRM (Planning) Program
Resource & Environmental Management
Mieke’s current research interests revolve around studying equity considerations in urban forest management to better understand how it can serve as an equitable nature-based climate solution. Her undergraduate background is in environmental science and management, which she completed at the University of Guelph in 2022. The interdisciplinarity of planning as a profession is what drew Mieke to pursue the planning program offered through SFU’s department of Resource and Environmental Management. Outside of graduate school obligations, Mieke likes to go on hikes, illustrate and paint, and is currently learning (or at least trying to learn) how to play the ukulele.
