Dr. Quigley-McBride is the Director of the PIE lab at 91ÅÝܽ. Researchers in the PIE Lab, answer applied questions by conducting experiments to shed light on issues at the intersection between law and psychology, with focus on judgment and decision-making in legally relevant contexts. Some specific topics of interest include:

  • Forensic Science: Exploring how ordinary people and expert forensic scientists make decisions about forensic evidence.

  • Eyewitness Evidence: How to preserve eyewitness memory and obtain reliable eyewitness identification evidence.

  • Use of Discretion: How law enforcement and legal professionals exercise their discretion (e.g., discretion granted to police, prosecutorial discretion during plea bargaining).
