SESSIONAL APPOINTMENT IN MOLECULAR BIOLOGY AND BIOCHEMISTRY - Burnaby Campus

The following Sessional appointment is available in the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry for the Spring 2026 semester: January 2, 2026 to April 29, 2026.

MBB 222-3 Molecular Biology and Biochemistry

  • Salary:  $7,718
  • Lectures: 3 hrs/wk (M/W/F 11:30 am– 12:20 pm)

Course description:  The structure, function and synthesis of proteins, RNA and DNA and their inter-related biological functions within the cell.  An introduction to molecular biology techniques and methods of protein purification and analysis. The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and exams, meeting and communicating with students, and grading exams with the assistance of Teaching Assistant(s). In addition, the instructor supervises and trains Teaching Assistants.

Minimum qualifications: Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomolecular Physiology or related discipline with a strong background in and ability to explain complex topics in organic chemistry, thermodynamics, protein structure, function and synthesis, DNA and RNA structure and function and recombinant DNA and protein techniques. Prior teaching experience at the post-secondary level in the topics identified.

Recommended qualifications: Research experience in Structural Biology, Molecular Biology and/or Cell Biology. Teaching experience in one or more MBB course.
