APPLIED MATHEMATICS MINOR
DECLARATION REQUIREMENTS
To declare an APMA Minor, students must complete 15 lower division units detailed below.
REQUIRED COURSES (9 units):
- Calculus I: MATH 150, 151, 154, or 157.
- Calculus II: MATH 152, 155, or 158.
- Linear Algebra: MATH 232 or 240.
AND TWO ADDITIONAL COURSES FROM ONE STREAM (6 UNITS)
Stream 1: Scientific Computing
- MATH 251 (required)
AND
- ONE OF: MATH 242 or MATH 260
Stream 2: Biomathematics
- ONE OF: MATH 251 or MATH 260
AND
- One additional 100/200-level MATH or MACM course (excluding MATH 100, 110, MATH 190) or any pre-approved quantitative lower division course. This course, if other than MATH or MACM, must be pre-approved by a department advisor. Any of the following courses can be used to satisfy this requirement: BISC 202, BISC 204, HSCI 207, HSCI 230, STAT 270.

- SFU advising transcript attached as PDF.
Complete applications generally require 2 - 4 weeks to assess and process.
MINIMUM GPA REQUIREMENTS:
- Students must complete required lower division courses with a minimum C average (2.00 GPA).
- Students must not achieve lower than a C grade in any of the required coursework.
- If students have taken upper division courses, both their upper division MATH subject GPA, and upper division cumulative GPA must be 2.00 (minimum).
- Students must be in good academic standing. CGPA + CUDGPA must be 2.00 (minimum).
