Living Together 2025: A collective action symposium by Hey Neighbour Collection
On May 5-6th, Inclusive Environments lab participated in the 2-day symposium in Vancouver hosted by on the topic, 'Living Together 2025: Connecting housing, social health and resilience.' The event brought together researchers, practitioners, and residents to explore community housing, social connection, and climate resilience in B.C.’s growing communities.
Our lab's lead, Dr. Atiya Mahmood, was one of the speakers in the panel discussion "Age-Friendly Approaches to Building Social Connections." The talk explored how age-friendly, sociable building design and resident-engaged programming can help foster informal support among neighbours, as well as more formal connections to community and health system resources.
Additionally, our research team member Jean Paul presented his study, "Building Connections in Multi-Unit Housing: Scoping Review of Factors Influencing Social Interaction that Foster Aging in the Right Place," completed under the supervision of Dr. Atiya Mahmood.
