Biography

Kalysha Closson, Ph.D., MSc, is the Strategic Initiatives Lead for the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Gender and Health (IGH) and an Adjunct Professor with the Faculty of Health Sciences at 91ÅÝܽ in British Columbia, Canada. She holds a Ph.D. in Population and Public Health from the University of British Columbia and has over a decade of experience in gender-integrated science.

Dr. Closson leads strategic programs at IGH, evaluates the impact of the Institute’s activities, and builds collaborative partnerships to advance gender equity in health research. Her research expertise centers on youth gender equity and health measurement, with a focus on relationship dynamics, norms, and power, as well as sexual and reproductive health. She uses participatory and strength-based approaches to address critical data gaps in gender equity measurement and to support the health and rights of youth in Canada and South Africa.
