Graduate with two degrees—a BA from SFU and a LLB from the University of Exeter.
The first program of its kind in BC, this dual degree program is an exciting new legal education opportunity that combines the best of SFU and the University of Exeter in the UK. Fast-track your education while immersing yourself in a program that blends academic excellence, practical skills, and global exposure.
Traditional law school routes typically take at least seven years to finish, but often more than that. The SFU-Exeter Accelerated Law Program allows you to complete your studies and become a lawyer in less time, all without having to take the LSAT. In six years, you can graduate much sooner and be prepared to enter the legal profession and maximize your earning potential.
What sets this program apart?
In this accelerated law dual degree program, you:
- Earn two degrees from two prestigious universities—a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from SFU and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Exeter—in just six years
- Customize your BA by choosing a major from 16 participating arts and social sciences programs
- Get exclusive perks unique to this program, including events/workshops, a dedicated student space on campus, and personalized support from the program coordinator
- Have automatic admission into Exeter Law School without having to take the LSAT, provided you are in good standing after completing 60 units in a participating SFU FASS BA program and you meet UK immigration criteria

You will receive dedicated guidance from an SFU advisor solely dedicated to this program and you will also receive priority registration in required SFU courses, which will facilitate timely degree completion.
Studying at Exeter
A registered Botanic Garden, Exeter's Streatham campus is one of the most beautiful campuses in the country and offers a unique environment in which to study, with lakes, parkland, woodland, and gardens as well as modern and historical buildings. At the heart of the campus is the Forum, a student hub building featuring student services, food and retail offerings, the library, and technology-rich study spaces.
The Exeter Students’ Guild has over 200 societies as well as an active Canadian Law Society, so you are sure to meet like-minded people and make friends for life.
You will have the opportunity to attend many career-related events on campus throughout the academic year, which allow students to network with potential employers and arrange for summer internships and placements. Career advisors and academic tutors will also be available to provide advice and support in securing these opportunities.

- The city centre of Exeter is only a 15-minute walk from campus.
- Spend your free time visiting historical sites, relax with friends on the beautiful quayside, or maybe even take a boat trip.
- Beyond the city, Exeter is less than two and a half hours away from London.
- Go fossil hunting on the Jurassic Coast, walking or cycling in Dartmoor or Exmoor National Parks, or visit award-winning beaches on The English Riviera.
At the university, there were a lot of careers support and regular contact with law firms, so there was a focus on the options open to you after your degree.
