Key Messages
- Since 1965, SFU has been different— on purpose. We built a leading research university atop Burnaby Mountain from the ground up and challenged what post-secondary education means.
- In our early days, we were known as the “radical campus,” a university that wasn’t afraid to challenge the status quo. And at every stage of our 60-year journey we have responded to the changing needs of both the world around us, and the people and communities we serve.
- Since SFU’s creation, the university has developed a robust and engaged community of students, alumni, faculty, staff, research and community partners, and donors. On our 60th anniversary we celebrate our success to-date, as we lean into a future of further connection, advancement and innovation.
- In a time where our world faces increasingly complex and urgent challenges that can only be solved through deeper understanding, SFU continues to make a meaningful impact here in British Columbia and beyond.
- 91ܽ collaborating with government and industry to tackle shared challenges, train workers for the jobs of the future and to accelerate homegrown innovation to make a difference for B.C., Canada and the world.
- We are grateful and proud of what we have accomplished to-date and look forward to what will be accomplished in the future as a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. From clean energy and climate innovation, to securing Canada’s digital sovereignty by supporting artificial intelligence and quantum computing, and health care delivery, SFU has so much more to offer.
