Why did you decide to pursue an MBA and what drew you to the SFU Beedie School of Business?
I decided to pursue an MBA to deepen my understanding of business management, enhance my leadership skills, and broaden my career opportunities in the field of technology and management. Coming from a background in computer science, I wanted to complement my technical expertise with strong business acumen, especially in areas such as strategy, operations, and organizational behavior. The MBA provides the perfect platform to bridge that gap and equip me with the skills needed to drive innovation and lead teams in tech-driven industries. The SFU Beedie School of Business stood out to me for several reasons. First, its focus on the intersection of management and technology aligns perfectly with my career goals. The program’s emphasis on practical, real-world applications, coupled with its strong connection to Vancouver’s thriving tech and business ecosystem, provides the ideal environment for learning and professional growth. Additionally, SFU Beedie’s collaborative and community-focused approach to learning drew me in, as I value the opportunity to work closely with diverse peers and professors on projects
What has been your moment or experience at Beedie so far? What are you looking forward to?
So far, my experience at Beedie has been really positive, and a big part of that is thanks to the professors and my peers. The professors bring such practical, real-world knowledge to the classroom, and my classmates come from diverse backgrounds, which makes discussions and projects so much more engaging. What I also appreciate is all the resources SFU offers—whether it’s career support, networking events, or opportunities to connect with alumni. But I’ve realized that it’s really up to you to take advantage of everything available and shape your own experience.
How would you describe SFU Beedie’s culture?
There’s a real emphasis on working together, whether in group projects or discussions, and everyone is encouraged to share their ideas and perspectives.
