SFU Beedie faculty honoured with CPA President’s New Researcher Award
Dr. Zhanna Lyubykh, assistant professor of management and organizational studies at SFU’s Beedie School of Business, has been awarded the . This national honour recognizes outstanding early career contributions to psychological knowledge in Canada and is awarded to a maximum of three new researchers each year across diverse areas of psychology.
Awarded annually, the CPA President’s New Researcher Award celebrates exceptional research conducted within five years of completing graduate training. Dr. Lyubykh’s work stood out for its rigorous, interdisciplinary approach and its impact on the understanding of psychological health in workplace contexts.
Her research explores how organizations can better support employees experiencing negative work experiences, such as workplace harassment and bullying. With a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied psychology, Dr. Lyubykh’s work contributes to shaping healthier, more inclusive professional environments—a focus that resonates deeply in today’s evolving world of work.
“It means a lot to me to be recognized by the CPA community,” says Dr. Lyubykh. “This award is a deeply meaningful affirmation of the importance of my research (both theoretical and practical) which aims to create healthier workplaces. This recognition motivates me to continue exploring how to support employees who experience negative work experiences, such as harassment or bullying. I’m also incredibly grateful to my mentors, colleagues, and friends who continue to inspire and support me along the way.”
The award will be formally presented at the CPA’s 2025 Annual National Convention, taking place in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on June 12.
This prestigious award adds to Dr. Lyubykh’s growing recognition as a leading voice in organizational psychology and highlights SFU Beedie’s broader commitment to advancing research that empowers individuals, transforms organizations, and supports evidence-based leadership.
