12/08/25

91ĹÝܽ’s Office of Francophone and Francophile Affairs (OFFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Caroline VentĂ©zou as Manager of Communications, Marketing and Engagement, effective August 11, 2025. She succeeds Anne Marie GagnĂ©, who is departing after 11 years with the team.

Originally from eastern France, Caroline Ventézou immigrated to Canada in March 2012 with a Master’s degree in Communication and Journalism and several years of in the field, both in France and abroad.

She first settled in Montreal, Quebec, where she joined the Association for the Development of Research and Innovation in Quebec (ADRIQ) as an administrative assistant. She quickly advanced to the role of Communications and Strategy Manager. After three rewarding years in Quebec, her sense of adventure and curiosity led her to Vancouver, British Columbia, in July 2015.

Later that year, she began her first role with OFFA as a Student Recruiter for a six-month contract. This experience allowed her to discover the province and gain insight into Francophone communities in minority settings across Canada. Through her promotional efforts, she helped inspire thousands of Francophone and Francophile youth to consider pursuing post-secondary studies in French at SFU.

She then joined FPInnovations, a national forestry research institute, as a Bilingual Communications Specialist. Over five years, she worked in a dynamic professional environment,  simplifying complex research into both French and English and developing large-scale strategic communication plans.

In 2021, Caroline returned to OFFA for a one-year interim role as Coordinator, Recruitment and Student Life — a position which she resumed again in August 2024. It is in this context that she applied for the Manager of Communications, Marketing and Engagement role to fully leverage her communication and leadership skills.

“We are delighted to appoint Caroline to lead OFFA's communications and community engagement efforts. Her high-level skills combined with her vast experience make her an expert in her field, and we are confident that her creativity, professionalism, and enthusiasm will be valuable assets in her new role. Thanks to her last three terms with us, OFFA will greatly benefit from her knowledge of the university and its programs, her strong ties to educational and cultural communities, and her commitment to the French-speaking community in British Columbia.”

For Caroline, this new professional challenge also coincides with the 10th anniversary of her arrival in British Columbia.

“Being appointed to this strategic role within OFFA is a huge milestone for me. I’m excited to apply everything I’ve learned over the years to strengthen SFU’s position as a leader in French-language post-secondary education in the province and beyond,” said Caroline. She added, “Since becoming the mother of a now 5-year-old Franco-Canadian daughter, I’ve come to understand even more deeply the importance of bilingualism and promoting the French language in minority settings—from early childhood to post-secondary education, and within community and cultural contexts. It’s important to me that my daughter develops a strong sense of belonging to the Francophone culture.”

“The OFFA team is caring and dedicated, and I’m thrilled to continue working with them” she concluded.
