The Outstanding Alumni Awards honour exceptional SFU graduates from around the world who inspire, innovate, and challenge the status quo.
For more than 40 years, they have celebrated the remarkable achievements of our alumni while uplifting and inspiring future generations of SFU graduates across our diverse and global community.
SFU has been honoured to be an academic home and community to Indigenous peoples. We recognize that all universities have work to do in making each step—from applying for a program, to stepping through the doors for the first time, to walking across the stage at convocation, to being a part of an alumni community that can support your life’s work—one that respects and celebrates Indigenous peoples. Truth and Reconciliation are a priority for all of SFU and the Outstanding Alumni Awards will be a key part of that commitment by ensuring Indigenous peoples are engaged and represented throughout each of the categories and also consulted on the program and process itself.

Award categories
The Outstanding Alumni Awards have undergone a renewal process and in this new iteration you will now see five award categories that are designed to uphold the values of SFU, our What’s Next strategic priorities, and our alumni community.
