Advanced Placement Program and International Baccalaureate
Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses may be used in place of equivalent provincially-approved grade 12 courses as listed under “British Columbia and Yukon Applicants”. The chart on the right shows how AP and IB exam grades will be converted for the purpose of determining a student’s admission.
Transfer credit and/or advanced standing will be granted to students who complete AP examinations, in certain transferable subjects, with grades of 4 or 5. Course challenge (credit by examination) is also available in some disciplines.
Students who have completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma will receive a complete year of transfer credit (30 units). Transfer credit will be awarded for all standard level and higher level subjects that are passed with a grade of 4 or higher. If the total specific assigned credit for all subjects totals less than 30 units, additional general elective credit will be assigned to bring the transfer credit total to 30 units. For a detailed list of credit that is granted for IB and AP courses, please visit
Students who are not completing the full IB diploma program must be admissible on another program leading to secondary school graduation program. Transfer credit will be granted for higher level subjects with a final grade of 5 or higher.
