Asees L., 4th BA Psychology Minoring In Criminology
What year of study are you in?
I am in my fourth-year Majoring in Psychology and minoring in Criminology
Could you tell us about your current co-op experience at Fraser Health?
As a Project Management & Quality Improvement Co-op Student in the Volunteer Resources Department at Eagle Ridge Hospital, Fraser Health, I supervise and lead the Future Best Program, manage the volunteer onboarding process, provide training on various hospital programs, and handle administrative tasks, such as generating reports and addressing data integrity issues within the department. I also lead special events and work on improving departmental processes to optimize volunteer operations. Furthermore, I collaborate with site staff to support logistics for the Volunteer Resources Department.
What do you enjoy the most about your current co-op experience?
What I enjoy most about my current co-op experience is the opportunity to learn and grow in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The dynamic nature of the role, where no two days are the same, allows me to develop new skills, collaborate with knowledgeable professionals, and make a meaningful impact on the volunteer and patient experience at Eagle Ridge Hospital.
Do you have any advice for students who want to get involved with co-op?
My advice for students interested in co-op is to be proactive and open to taking on diverse tasks. It’s important to embrace every opportunity for hands-on learning, whether it’s managing programs, working on projects, or collaborating with a team, as it helps build valuable skills and will aid in your professional and personal growth.
