Fall 2025 Appreciation & Welcome Dinner

Welcome, new and returning postdoctoral fellows! Join the Office of the Vice-President, Research and Innovation and the Postdoctoral Association for our annual Welcome & Orientation Social on Thursday, September 18, 2025. This is your opportunity to connect with the community and discover key resources designed to support your success at SFU.

We’ll begin with a warm welcome and an overview of dedicated services, including an immigration information session led by Alina Romans, Manager of Immigration Services. You’ll also hear from your PDA presidents and have a chance to meet representatives from Human Resources and the Library.

Afterward, we invite you to mix and mingle over a delicious Italian buffet and complimentary drinks. Take advantage of the opportunity to have a professional headshot taken by our photographer, Pam, with the stunning backdrop of Burnaby Mountain—perfect for your LinkedIn profile or academic portfolio.

This gathering is the perfect for building meaningful connections and feeling at home within the SFU community. We look forward to sharing this welcoming afternoon with you!

  • Resources talk by Alina Romans, Manager of Immigration Services SFU

Social & Headshots
4:45PM – 6:30 PM (Headshots from 4:45PM – 5:30 PM)

  • Enjoy a delightful social hour with new and returning postdoctoral fellows and members of the SFU research community. This is a perfect chance to network, build connections, and enhance your professional portfolio.
  • A photographer will be available to take headshots during this time. Photos will be shared with individual postdoctoral fellows after the event via email.

We eagerly anticipate celebrating and welcoming our postdoctoral fellows, who are invaluable members of the SFU community.
