Synopsis
In my group, we study enzymes that mutate DNA and RNA. Since these enzymes are highly involved in human diseases, they have been intensely studied in humans and mice.
My talk will describe how we have broken free of this box by discovering and exploring unusual enzymes from evolutionarily divergent species, revealing novel catalytic architectures and mechanisms.
Using this body of work, I will advocate for advancing the understanding of biological structures beyond 3D, integrating molecular function with the temporal dimensions of Kairos and Chronos.
