Synopsis

I will show, using a very simple thought-experiment, that the histories of relativistic quantum-mechanical systems cannot be presented in the form of an assignment of states to any one-parameter sequence of "times" - and I will consider what this implies about the structure of the spatio-temporal arena in which the histories of such systems unfold.
