In June, the SFU School of Medicine welcomed the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) for our accreditation site visit. During their visit, the accreditation team met with key institutional leaders, community partners, working groups, and future faculty, and toured several of our planned learning sites.

We anticipate receiving a decision on our accreditation status in late September 2025. Once preliminary accreditation status is received, we will be allowed to launch the first admissions cycle.

Ways You Can Engage & Support the School of Medicine as we Prepare for Accreditation:

Prospective Applicants:
While we wait for a decision from CACMS, we are actively preparing to launch our first admissions cycle later this year. If you are a prospective applicant and would like to receive updates about our application launch and admissions process, we invite you to sign up below. 

Physicians & Community Members:
If we are approved to move forward with admissions, we will be holding in-person Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) in Spring 2026. We are currently seeking MMI Assessors from the SFU, Surrey and Burnaby communities to help evaluate candidates. We welcome assessors who have healthcare expertise as well as SFU or local community members who are willing to engage thoughtfully and fairly with future applicants.
