The Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging at UBC is hosting an online Dialogue on Aging on November 5, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Theresa Pauly, Assistant Professor in the Department of Gerontology at 91ÅÝܽ and Canada Research Chair in Social Relationships, Health, and Aging, will discuss how aging populations can better prepare for and adapt to hotter summers.

As climate change intensifies and extreme heat events become more frequent, fostering dialogue, sharing knowledge, and inspiring collaboration are vital to safeguarding health and well-being in a warming world. Dr. Pauly’s research seeks to inform the development of targeted interventions that promote resilience among older adults. Drawing on current studies and practical examples, her talk will examine the physical, social and environmental factors shaping vulnerability, along with effective strategies for protection and adaptation.
