Description, purpose and use of records

The series consists of records made or received in reporting and investigating accidents involving university employees. Records include SFU Accident Investigation Reports, Workers' Compensation Board Reports and forms, correspondence and memoranda.

Retention rationale

These are routine operational records used by office staff to document reported accidents. A 10 year total retention period is required to meet the Department's administrative and legal need for these records.

 

Retention and filing guidelines

The file is considered closed when the appointment has been concluded and requests for review or appeal by unsuccessful candidates are exhausted. Retain for one additional year, then transfer to the University Records Centre (URC).
