Sports Medicine – Clinic Assistant, Athletics & Recreation

The Clinic Assistant position presents a valuable opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in BPK 241 within a practical setting. SFU Sport Medicine, a multi-disciplinary clinic serving the university's varsity athletes throughout their athletic careers as Canada’s NCAA representative, is offering this volunteer role.

Clinic Assistants are expected to commit four hours per week to the clinic, where their responsibilities include observing treatments, providing initial first aid and prophylactic taping for injured athletes, and supporting the daily operational needs of the clinic. This placement serves as a foundational step towards the Red Shirt and Student Trainer programs, which offer volunteers the chance to work directly with university teams, assisting during practices and competitions. Through these progressive opportunities, students can gain insights into various healthcare careers and acquire practical experience within a dynamic and engaging environment.
