CITI courses

Select CITI Canada courses are available free of charge to all members of the University community with a valid SFU email account, including faculty, students and staff. Course completion is documented by a completion certificate.

CORE Tutorial

All SFU researchers (faculty, undergraduate and graduate students, and staff), applying for human research ethics approval are required to complete the most recent version of the Tri-Council Policies' research ethics training tutorial, the CORE Tutorial.  Copies of the completion certificate must be retained by the researcher as per recordkeeping requirements and student researchers are required to include a copy of the certificate with their application.   

San’yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety training

San’yas: Indigenous Cultural Safety (ICS) training is a unique, facilitated on-line training program designed to increase knowledge, enhance self-awareness, and strengthen the skills of those who work both directly and indirectly with Aboriginal people. The goal of the ICS training is to further develop individual competencies and promote positive partnerships. The program was developed by the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) Aboriginal Health Program. The Core ICS training is general, and relevant for foundational learning for many disciplines.

Ownership, Control, Access and Possession (OCAP)

The First Nations principles of OCAP® establish how First Nations’ data and information will be collected, protected, used, or shared. OCAP® is a tool to support strong information governance on the path to First Nations data sovereignty.

ISED Training 

ISED (Innovation, Science & Economic Development) Canada offers a suite of courses under the umbrella of Safeguarding Your Research.

NSF Training 

NSF has created 4 modules for training of departments with high research security needs like Department of Defense (DOD). 

This training has been condensed from approximately 4 hours into the SECURE Center training that takes 1 hour to meet the new research security training requirements for NSF, NIH, DOE and DOD.  

Kuali Research Training 

Kuali Research is a cloud-based platform customized for SFU processes. The system provides Faculty and Administrators real-time visibility into the status of proposals within their purview. Review workflows are managed directly within the system.
