History of LinguisticsNEW
For several years, UBC and SFU have been hosting a joint colloquium series called LinguisticsNOW, aimed at showcasing exciting new research in linguistics while fostering collaboration between UBC and SFU. In the past, we’ve organized one talk per term, open to both SFU and UBC students, with each event hosted at either SFU or UBC. While these talks have been inspiring, we recognized the need for a new format to better encourage collaboration between the two departments. In 2024, SFU and UBC students proposed a joint research poster session, which led to the creation of a refreshed format for LinguisticsNOW called LinguisticsNEW. Email the LinguisticsNEW Organization Committee with any questions you may have.
