Taanshi kiyawaaw! I’m Kathleen (she/they) and I’m from Winnipeg located in Treaty One territory in Southern Manitoba. En Michif niya. I received my BA in SFU’s Indigenous Studies and Linguistics Joint Major and am now returning to pursue my MA. As a learner of Southern Michif, I’m primarily focused on Indigenous language revitalization, morphosyntax of Algonquian languages, and language documentation. I’ve had the privilege to work with my heritage language and speakers of Southern Michif over the last three years and am looking forward to furthering the revitalization of our language. Outside of academia, I enjoy reading, cooking, harvesting, travelling and doing pilates. Eekoshi.
