SFU alumni invited back to in-person Convocation
In 2020 and 2021, more than 13,000 people graduated from SFU during the pandemic. This May, those who did not have the opportunity for an in-person convocation ceremony are being invited back to campus to cross the stage with their fellow graduates.
To help us plan a safe event, there is a two-phase registration process. Responses in Phase 1 will tell us how many alumni are intending on participating and will help us schedule enough ceremonies to safely accommodate everyone. In Phase 2, those who responded in Phase 1, will receive a specific ceremony date and time and will be able to firmly commit their attendance.
Alumni who completed their degree in fall 2019 through summer 2021, should check their email for the Phase 1 email—an invitation to save their seat—and respond by March 3. Alumni who are eligible for in-person Convocation and missed the email should check the to review what to do.
“We are excited to welcome our alumni and their guests back to campus,” says Gloria Chu, Director, Ceremonies, Events and Protocol. “Convocation is a memorable event for our grads, their guests and the SFU community. I’m delighted that we are able to invite them back for safe in-person ceremonies.”
