Announcing: Presidential re-appointment review committee and consultation process
This message is sent on behalf of Angie Lamarsh, chair of SFU’s Board of Governors. It has been sent to all faculty and staff. A similar message has been sent to all students.
Earlier this year, 91ÅÝܽ’s Board of Governors announced the re-appointment review process for incumbent president, Dr. Joy Johnson. President Joy Johnson’s current term is from Sept. 1, 2020 to Aug. 31, 2025.
Members of the re-appointment review committee will assess feedback gathered during the consultation period and make a recommendation regarding her re-appointment to the Board of Governors. The review committee includes representatives from the Board of Governors, faculty, deans, administration, staff and students. Click here to see full membership.
The re-appointment review process is being conducted in accordance with Policy B10.06, and will include broad consultation across the university and with appropriate external constituents to gather feedback on President Johnson’s work to-date. The process is expected to take two months.
The potential re-appointment of SFU’s president is a crucial decision for the future of the university. I encourage everyone to get involved and share your perspective. Your opinion is important to us.
Feedback can be provided at the online forums, through a web survey, or through written feedback. Details will be posted on the Presidential Reappointment Review website in the coming week.
If you have any questions about the review process, please contact me at board_chair@sfu.ca. I look forward to hearing from many of you over the coming months.
Sincerely,
Angie Lamarsh
