October Collective Bargaining Update
Collective Bargaining is now underway at SFU. We approach negotiations collaboratively, with the goal of meeting the core interests of all parties and upholding the sustainable interests of the entire SFU community.
After receiving the province's 2025 mandate in August, the university began monetary negotiations while continuing to work through outstanding non-monetary proposals.

Administrative and Professional Staff Association (APSA)
Negotiations with APSA are scheduled to begin in November.
CUPE Local 3338
The university and CUPE had originally scheduled bargaining dates beginning in October. CUPE recently communicated they are no longer available for October and November bargaining, and cannot bargain in December, so the university is now working to confirm new dates in January.
Poly Party
The parties last met in July to exchange and discuss proposals, seeing positive momentum as we work through key issues. Due to scheduling conflicts, the next collective bargaining dates are scheduled for November.
SFU Faculty Association (SFUFA)
After several bargaining dates in the early summer, the parties spent some time to work on proposals and met again on September 23, 2025. We have moved into discussions of more complex matters but there continues to be productive discussion. We look forward to continuing to work at the bargaining table at our additional dates already scheduled throughout the rest of the fall semester.
Teaching Support Staff Union (TSSU)
SFU and TSSU met on September 24 to exchange additional proposals, continuing discussions on items of importance to each group. Both sides have committed to reviewing and considering the proposals tabled, and responding at the next scheduled bargaining session. The next bargaining session takes place on Thursday, October 9.
