TSSU
TSSU Bargaining Update – July 11, 2025
SFU and the Teaching Support Staff Union are currently negotiating as part of the Collective Bargaining process.
Last month, the university and TSSU met on June 13, 24 and 26. The parties discussed housekeeping and non-monetary proposals that relate directly to the terms and conditions of employment for TSSU members, per the B.C. Labour Relations code.
Some of TSSU’s proposals were identified as out of scope for the collective bargaining process, meaning they do not relate to the terms and conditions of employment for TSSU members. Those proposals were recommended for discussion in other forums, such as budget consultations.
Both parties were able to advance proposals of mutual benefit, and have reached tentative agreements on several proposals already.
The Provincial Bargaining Mandate, which outlines the funding to support monetary negotiations, has not yet been officially shared with SFU by the government. Until this occurs, the university is deferring response on any of TSSU’s monetary proposals.
Bargaining will continue later in July, with the parties agreeing to involve a third-party mediator to provide support working through current proposals. The mediated dates are scheduled for July 22, 24 and 31.
