Anita Gill

BA Criminology, 2004 

Anita Gill serves as the Port Security Director and Director, Permitting, Compliance & Enforcement at the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority (VFPA). In her role, she leads the strategic direction of the port authority’s programs for permitting, security, and enforcement, all aimed at facilitating Canada’s trade through the Port of Vancouver. Ms. Gill oversees a diverse and extensive portfolio in the areas of port-wide safety and security on the landside and marine, Canada Marine Act compliance and enforcement, and permitting of projects proposed within the port’s jurisdiction.

With over 20 years of progressive experience and leadership in legislative enforcement, Ms. Gill holds several post-secondary certificates from the Justice Institute of British Columbia, including Reserve Constable, Deputy Sheriff and Bylaw Officer. In 2004, she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at 91ÅÝܽ, where she ranked in the top 15% of her class and was recognized as a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society.

Ms. Gill earned her Executive MBA through the Americas program offered by the Johnson School of Business at Cornell University and the Smith School of Business at Queen's University. She received the prestigious 30% Club scholarship award, a global recognition for high-performing female leaders. Additionally, in 2024, she was named one of the Top 50 Women Leaders in Vancouver by Women We Admire.

Ms. Gill represents VFPA at the National Port Security Committee of the Association of Canadian Port Authorities (ACPA) and is an associate member of both the Canadian Association of Police Chiefs (CACP) and International Association of Police Chiefs (IACP). Recognized as a Subject Matter Expert on marine port security, she recently addressed the House of Commons Standing Committee on Public Safety and National Security regarding issues related to auto theft and exports.
