Sessional - BISC 205 - Principles of Physiology - 1257 - Burnaby Campus
The following Sessional appointment is expected to be available in the Department of Biological Sciences during the FALL SEMESTER (August 27 to December 22, 2025).

Article XIV E.3.a of the TSSU-SFU Collective Agreement allows for up to 25% of appointments within a given department to be reserved for graduate students or postdoctoral fellows. “While priority will be given to Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows in awarding this RESERVED position, all Sessional Instructors are encouraged to apply. In the event it is not filled by a Grad or Postdoc, it will be filled by another qualified applicant in accordance with Article XIV E of the Collective Agreement.â€
Course Description: An integrated exploration of animal and plant physiology, using principles from biology, physics, and chemistry to describe the underlying mechanisms and adaptations that support life. Systems include transport, metabolism, electrical and chemical signaling, sensing and responding.
The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering lectures and exams, meeting and communicating with students, and grading exams with the assistance of Teaching Assistant(s). In addition, the instructor supervises and trains Teaching Assistants.
Minimum Qualifications: A master’s degree or equivalent qualification in biological sciences with broad training in physiology, and a focus in plant and/or animal physiology or cell biology. Relevant teaching experience in upper division courses at the post-secondary level.
Recommended Qualifications: A PhD in biological sciences with broad training in physiology, and expertise in plant and/or animal physiology or cell biology. Previous experience teaching plant or animal biology at the post-secondary level is highly desirable.
