Resources for students
AI tools are evolving fast and can help us learn, create, and solve problems in new ways. By understanding both their potential and their risks—like privacy, fairness, and academic integrity—AI can responsibly support your academic journey at SFU.
Explore essential resources and guidance to help you navigate the responsible use of generative AI while upholding academic integrity and university policies.
Academic integrity
Students can access guidance on how to navigate AI in ways that uphold their academic integrity obligations on the Using Generative AI page.
Ombudsperson
Students can also access advice about regulations, policies and procedures and strategies from SFU’s Ombudsperson. The Ombudsperson is an advocate for fairness for the benefit of all students and the university community as a whole.
Policies
As AI becomes more integrated into academic work, students are reminded to review the Student Code of Conduct (S10.05) and Student Academic Integrity Policy (S10.01). These policies outline SFU’s expectations around fairness, honesty and accountability. By following these policies, students can use AI in ways that support their learning, while protecting academic standards and community trust.
